We went into the Colonial Manor shoot knowing we weren’t just documenting heritage architecture — we were telling a story of transformation.

The two Colonial Manors at Capella Singapore, redesigned by Matthew Shang Design Office (MSDO), preserve their roots as British military quarters from the 1880s, yet now pulse with new life.

Our approach captured the Colonial Manor as a living narrative, highlighting the dialogue between its heritage roots and modern refinements.

Original architectural details — heritage windows, classic mouldings, and textured surfaces — were framed alongside contemporary furnishings, thoughtful layouts, and subtle design upgrades.

Following the flow of light through the interiors and pausing in intimate corners, we emphasized textures, materials, and spatial layers that make the Manor feel both timeless and freshly reimagined.

Beyond architecture, we focused on the curated experiences that define a stay at the Manor. Families participating in dim sum workshops, tile painting sessions, and other interactive activities became central to our storytelling. By capturing gestures, interactions, and moments of connection, we ensured that the Manor’s family-centric spirit was present in every frame.

At the Manor’s private pool, our lens followed the natural rhythms of leisure — laughter, playful splashes, and calm moments of togetherness.

Through careful pacing, framing, and attention to light and texture, we translated these experiences into a cinematic story that balances intimacy, heritage, and luxury, showing the Manor as a place where families can connect and create lasting memories.
